Together with game developer Bob Huijbregts, I’ve started our indie game adventure under the name Upgraded Studio. For over 10 years, I’ve dreamed of making a real indie game, and now it's actually happening!
Our first game will be Binary Barrier, a sci-fi tower defense roguelite inspired by classics like Space Invaders and Missile Command. It’s a strategic game with tons of upgrade possibilities. After all, we're called Upgraded Studio for a reason!
At the moment, we’re working hard on the demo for Binary Barrier so we can test the concept. We think the game is awesome, but yeah, do others feel the same? That’s the question for us now. As soon as we have the demo ready, we’ll start testing and focus more on marketing.

And I can hear you thinking: "But Maarten, this game doesn’t make a positive impact on important social causes, right?" That’s true! But it does make a positive impact on ourselves and our skills as game developers. It’s a dream for us that’s finally coming true. I’m sure that making a 'real' game (with everything that comes with it) will ultimately help PlayGood grow further as a game studio.
