If you’ve followed PlayGood Games for a while, you might have heard of The Gate, our narrative-based serious game that helps teens in residential care to discover information and to grasp what is going to happen to them.

Last year, The Gate was even nominated for a Dutch Game Award. Things have calmed down since then, but the impact hasn’t. The game has now been implemented in six organizations, and we’ve received some amazing feedback from both professionals and players.

If you are curious about The Gate, you can check out the full case study.

And now, we're excited to share something new!

Thanks to a generous donation, we’re expanding The Gate from a digital solo experience into something physical: a board game.

What makes this so exciting? It’s social.

Where the digital game offers personal reflection and the chance to learn at your own pace, the board game invites children, parents and care professionals to connect with each other. It gives them a chance to open up, share stories, and have fun together.

We’re also adding a visual twist. Parts of the game are 3D printed, giving the experience an extra layer of scale and dimension. Of course, this kind of production is only feasible in small quantities, so we’re making just 10 copies to distribute across participating organizations.

We’re deep into development and incredibly excited to create an unforgettable social board game experience.

More to come soon!
